A Typical Cottage Day

_

Daily routine gives children a much needed sense of security.

This is why we work to make sure each day is properly structured while allowing enough time for spontaneous activities.

By implementing the EYSF, We aim to teach our children that learning is fun and exciting, that they’re smart, confident and able to reach their full potential. By implementing our curriculum along with the child’s natural willingness to learn and experiment, we develop self-confidence and a positive attitude towards education and life.

Settling In

Settling-in to the nursery environment is an important part of the day. Catering to different arrival times, our arranged morning activities allow children to join in freely when and as they wish.

Group Activities

Our staff are trained to realise the full learning potential of the children’s activities and structuring these in small groups enables the desired learning outcomes to be best achieved. Outside play is essential to the wellbeing of your child and therefore an essential part of our life at Cottage Day. We encourage supervised play in the nursery garden and bring the children in contact with nature as much as possible to increase their understanding of environment and life.

Meal Times

A breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit and milk is served between 08:30 and 09:00 (we expect children arriving later in the morning to have eaten beforehand). Lunch is served in age groups between 11:00 and 12:30 with babies served first, followed by toddlers, and finally preschool. As well as a time for nourishment, meal times are used to continue children’s learning, including discussing around health and hygiene. We follow these teachings through to tea time, between 14:45 16:30.

Nap Time Or Continued Activities

After lunch some children will need to recuperate before the afternoon’s activities. Supervised naps allow the younger children to recharge their batteries ready for the rest of the day. Alternatively there are continued activities for the children to take part in.

Home Time

When children are collected parents / guardians will receive a small written report on the child’s daily activities. They’re given the opportunity to speak with staff if they so wish and a member the management team is always available.
